Rob Bell & C.S. Lewis – Worth a Read

Finally, someone that can articulate what I’ve been trying to.  Here is a snippet, but the whole article is worth a read:

“The debate over Love Wins is not actually a fight only about doctrine. It is about angst caused by different cultures and philosophical precommitments. It’s about language and how we articulate what is real. It’s about the acceptance or rejection of postmodern ways of expressing what is most vital to us.”

  1. Mark Dupuis says:

“There’s not one controversial idea in Love Wins that is not clearly voiced as a real possibility by the most popular evangelical writer of the last century, CS Lewis.” I think this would be particularly grating to those caught in the uproar. Universalism, which I lean towards, is not an original idea nor a particularly partisan point of view. It’s not that I agree with Rob Bell (I haven’t read the book) and I don’t really care to enter the fray (I don’t like that band), but I never enjoy listening to the ill-informed, and in this situation they seem to be everywhere. Atop the list of accusations ripe to be hurled at evangelicals would be that they love ideologues almost as much as they love a good fight.
